About Us

Little Sunflowers Nursery School is Ofsted registered and opened in January 2006. Set in the beautiful rural village of Hamstead Marshall, 4 miles from Newbury, the Nursery is located in the Village Hall, which was originally the Village School, built in 1895.

The Nursery is run by Teresa Carter and Trudy Bartholomew both of whom hold a Diploma in Pre-School Practice and have many years experience of working in Nursery Education. All members of staff are CRB checked.

Our ethos is one of caring and promoting learning through play. We will nurture and encourage children to grow in confidence and ability by enabling them to explore activities and face challenges independently, within the safe environment of the nursery. In the course of the nursery day we will encourage all children to socialise and participate in activities to the best of their ability, always considering what is appropriate for an individual child's stage of development.

We are registered to take up to 20 children per session. Keeping the nursery small allows us to focus on the development of each child. We will observe what a child can do and provide purposeful activities to extend the child's learning, following the Early Years Foundation Stage; thus enabling each child to reach his or her full potential. We will foster good relationships with feeder schools, to enable a smooth transition from Nursery to Primary Education.
